Black Canyon

Today Stephen and I thought it would be a good idea to hike down into this canyon.
The first warning sign should have been that it was an unmarked trail.
But we ignored that.
The second warning sign should have been the look the ranger kept giving us.
Ignored that too.
Third sign was the fact that I had to sign a permit.
Ignored.
Fourth should have been the first ten minutes of the hike which was basically a straight shot down with rubble to slide upon.
Ignored.
This continued the whole way down.
I think I did the majority of the hike sliding on my rear end.
But we made it.

And then we tried to get back out...
The problem with a canyon, you see, is that once inside the canyon everything looks the same. There is no obvious destination.
So we got lost.
And I ran out of water.
And Stephen fell and sliced his arm.
And I thought this was surely the end.

But hours and hours later we crawled (literally if you are me) out of there.

Never again.
