Ready for battle

As you may remember my son and I did not have tickets to view the bi-centenary battle.
If you can't get tickets - join in (with a bit of blagging!)
We were kitted out and they did suggest I carried a drum, but the bugle was lighter, and I didn't have to play it.
2 hour march to the battle scene through waist high cornfields - 2 hrs fighting (I stayed with the surgeon) and 2 hour march back through cheering crowds.  5000 assorted foot soldiers and cavalry - we were in the Brunswick Infantry, which meant all orders were issued in German!
Needless to say I couldn't manage the second half of the battle the next day, but my son did.
I never had full control of the helmet which was several sizes too big and kept falling over my eyes as I marched.
