Kinky?

Buddleja alternifolia, hasn't been there long, couple of years maybe.It was decided to put a bird feeding station @ the front so that we didn't HAVE to stand at the sink to watch their antics. After a modicum of moving around, I bunged it in beside the Buddleja. I didn't realise at the time that this would be the result.
1. It is physically impossible to drive it any lower due to its dual spiked base.
2. I didn't know, initially, that the ornamental top would coincide exactly with that little kink in the main stem.
Carry this memory with you when you pass any unpruned Hawthorn. Left to its own devices Hawthorn grows in long flower spike very similar in format. Buddleja alternifolia scores inasmuch as, to my eye, it's at least as bonny, better coloured AND has NO prickles.
