Earth Roof

My friends Seb and Linda have built an extension on their house, it's going to have a grass roof. So our job today was to cover the roof in earth, four or five inches deep! That meant an awful lot of shoveling, carrying, heaving buckets onto the roof, spreading the earth and firming it down ready for sowing a mix of grass and wild flowers. I could hardly move by the end of the day, they were delighted to have completed the task, it would have taken them ages on their own. We were well fed and watered afterwards.
