At Woodstock Farm

Today Arvin, his daughters and I all headed out on a day out. It was a gorgeous day, like so many others during this unusual and magical June we've been having. Many years we dub the month "Junuary" so this is really totally not usual, this day after day of beautiful sunny weather.

We drove down Chuckanut Drive and stopped at the Chuckanut Bay Gallery for a lovely perusal of their indoor and garden art. Their taste is impeccable and so a visit is an artistic joy.

As we headed on down Chuckanut we passed the entrance to Woodstock Farm where I painted in plein air with Trish Harding and groups of other artists so often about five years ago. I got an itch to see it again so I turned the car and we stopped there for a visit. It is as beautiful as ever and the view from the bluff is brilliant. We met another visitor while we were there and Arvin and Lynda talked to him while I took their picture with him.

By this time we were all getting a bit peckish so we stopped at the Oyster Bar for lunch. Oh baby it was good. I had bouillabaisse and it was chock full of yummy fish and shellfish. Very wonderful. We had the loveliest waitress. She spotted Arvin's shirt and complemented him. From there we went on to talk and share pictures of our cats. The meal and the company were delightful.

We continued on down Chuckanut to Padilla Bay where we took a walk. By this time the tide was way out so there wasn't much water in the slough but the walk was still lovely. On the way back we saw some small wading birds and a flock of Killdeers. I've never seen several together so that was a treat. Didn't have my tele lens with me so no photos of them, but still great to see them all.

Lynda drove home and we arrived around seven in the evening. What a lovely day. This was the gals' treat to honor their father for a late Father's Day. Thanks Lynda and Helena. We had a great time.
