Humans? What humans?

So these two dogs might be saying as they headed away from their walking companions to play briefly in the cold sea this morning. They had been walking along, dutifully chasing a ball (one of them) and accompanying the human (the other). Until they saw each other. Following a quick greeting they investigated the water. Together. Without the humans.

I saw this scene on Milford Beach this morning before work. I left home earlier than usual to be able to have a run as the light increased until the sun actually rose above the horizon. Running from home these winter mornings means a run completely in the dark if I am then to get to work on time. This photo was taken 10 minutes before sunrise, by the time of which I was almost back at the unit to shower and breakfast before starting work.

It has been a good day. A useful team meeting to begin with. Then an assessment of someone who reasonably is worrying that she may again become severely depressed post natally, and has asked for assistance to try and ensure that doesn't happen. We were able to negotiate an initial approach which might need to be revised as time progresses.

Lunch while writing notes, and then another home visit and assessment of someone whose GP has made the appropriate interventions such that there is no need for specialist services, except for giving reassurance that all is well.

This evening I met with my Peer Review group at a local restaurant. When I booked a table a fortnight ago, I was told we couldn't be in the quieter back room, but it should be quiet enough in the main room. I arrive and the main room was full of a very large group of noisy young things 30 somethings having a pleasant evening out together. I was ushered straight through to the back room and a table in a quiet corner. When I paid the bill (as the host of the group) I thanked the Maitre 'D for the quieter room, and he invited us back and to encourage such a decision he gave me a 25% discount voucher.

Back home to post my blip before packing for tomorrow's trip to Wellington.
