A Cracking Filter!

This is what happened to the filter on the front of my lens when my camera / tripod fell over earlier in the week.!

Imagine if that was the front element of the lens. I managed to remove the broken glass on the day but couldn't get the metal filter ring off the front of the lens.  When I got home I managed to free it using a hack saw and a pair of pliers  - very carefully I might add!

There is some slight damage to one part of the plastic thread on the front of the lens - but there is enough left to be able to screw a new filter in.
