Sacred Ibis

We left Bormio today, heading south, passed Milan, and stopped a couple of places on the way to a rural lodge near Pavia. The first stop was adjacent to a heronry, with nearly constant fly-bys from herons, egrets and other birds.  Sacred Ibis are native to Africa, but have been introduced to many parts of Europe; we were told they are now found throughout Italy. Otherwise we were particularly pleased to see numerous Squacco Herons, which we had never seen so frequently before.
