Sainfoin

I was wandering round the garden in a let up in the rain when these two walkers - although they look like one - caught my eye on the headland.

I myself took a walk around the circuit for the first time in ages. Sainfoin, bird's foot trefoil, the first knapweed, mignonette and a little creeping purple flower I'd not noticed before were out. But not a butterfly on the downland.

There was a stiffish westerly blowing and France looked very close, some sailing craft about making sluggish way against the wind. The sea was viridian and slate green edging away into a matt indigo under towering cloud's on the far shore. I was sans camera.

In the extra photo the garden sculpture is at half mast for a month. No-one told the valerian.
