Flora and Fauna

We've been coming to Suffolk for a number of years now, but this is our first visit at this time of year. One noticeable aspect is the glorious wild flower displays . We did a forest and heath walk today, and although the ubiquitous gorse and broom are past their best, the ling on the heath is just starting to flower, as are the wonderful large thistles. Along the forest tracks, the foxgloves are at their best and along the country lanes, the verges are ablaze with poppies and mallow. The delicious perfume of honeysuckle and elderflower also hangs in the air. The bees love this Viper's Bugloss which is also in full flower at the moment. We were lucky today - showers were forecast but in the event it kept dry for our walk, although it's raining now making the prospect of an evening stroll less appealing.
