Midsummer's Day

It’s the longest day of the year.  And it’s a Sunday.  Sundays are ‘big long walk’ days.  So today Ann made me walk 10 miles.  I’m a little bit tired now.  And so is Ann??!!

We parked at 'Lerryn' and walked along the river for a couple of miles, then we trekked inland through some sheep fields I had to go back on my lead cos I can’t be trusted not to go chasing and walked back to 'Lerryn' via some country lanes.

When we got back to 'Lerryn' we went into the 'Ship Inn' (just how many pubs are called the Ship Inn?) so that the humans could have lunch.  Normally we have lunch at the end of our walks on ‘big long walk Sundays’ so I just lay quietly underneath the table waiting for a little titbit of beef.  Yum, yum!!

After lunch I expected I'd be getting put back into the car to go home.  But do you know what happened today?.................................

After lunch Ann said, ‘Molly, we’re going to walk along the other side of the river now, then we’re going to walk up the Fowey River to St Winnow and then we’ll walk back across the fields to Lerryn.  Are you up for another 5 miles of walking?’

Obviously I’m up for as many walks as Ann wants to take me on.  And because we were walking right next to the River Lerryn & River Fowey I was able to do loads of splishing and splashing and sploshing to cool down.

The only trouble is............................ I’m not as young as I used to be and neither is Ann so a 10 mile walk has worn me out.  Ann isn’t exactly full of beans either?!

On the plus side......................  Since we started trekking around with a pedometer attached to us, we’ve clocked up 71.85 miles since Friday 12th June.  ‘Only’(?!) 928.15 miles to go to reach our target of walking 1000 miles by midnight on 31st December 2015. Lol!!!
PS - I don't think either of us will be out and about looking for a sunset on this 'Midsummer's night'.  Off to bed soon.  Toodles. xxx
