Penguin Tombola
So the outcome of all that penguin washing is that tomorrow Jen and I are holding a penguin tombola at the village Gala. She has decided that, love them as she does, it is time for her penguins to leave their bin liners in the loft and find new homes. Tonight we applied raffle tickets to all of their flippers and shared penguin (and wedding!) stories for a lovely couple of hours. The proceeds from the tombola will go to the Deep Museum in Hull to support their Penguin Project. Many years ago I blipped Jenny surrounded by all of her penguins so this blip is something of a recreation. We have both managed to squeeze into a couple of her old penguin t-shirts and she is sporting the penguin hood made for her by Granny Elsie for the Gala procession back in 1989 when we were all dressed as penguins! (Can you spot Jenny and me?)
On Jenny's lap is Ponden the Penguin who is particularly special and will not be going in the tombola. He was bought with a ten pound note, given to Jenny by the doctor who was so impressed that, as a very small girl, she had patiently sat fastened up to an ECG machine for most of a day for the junior doctors' practical examination. He was bought at Ponden Mill!
I think tomorrow is going to be a bit emotional but very special for both of us!
