Maple and Pecan Cake.

Being through in the city means I missed seeing Granu - my granda - on Tuesday for his 83rd birthday. I'm heading home tomorrow with my brother so I baked this cake to go and visit him and my Nannie. Upon consulting with my mum on the suitability of my chosen cake she said she was unsure if he'd be able to eat the nuts but that anything syrup-y would be a hit. I removed the chopped nuts from the sponge mixture and only added the decorative ones so they could be picked off at will.
