Carnage

She looks happy here. She was happy. Mostly. Till the end. Then she realised she hadn't won a race. Then she cried. Then she made herself feel worse by recalling that she didn't win last year or the year before either. Then she decided her ankle hurt and cried some more :(

As far as I could tell, most children at Sports Day cried. Either because they got hit in the face by wild skipping rope action, or winded themselves falling over in the sack race... Mostly they cried if they didn't get a sticker. This year the school was ungenerous in sticker distribution...

I wondered if the Head had decided that this year's Sports Day needed to be a school wide learning experience in one of life's tough lessons... ie we can't all be winners.

Ooooof.

Or maybe tough budgets didn't stretch to triple sticker portions.
