It Begins

It's funny, the things you remember.

The first major football tournament I remember is Euro 96. Vaguely. I was ten and not properly interested in football then.

France 98 I remember more, Baby Michael Owen's goal, Beckham's sending off.

In 2002, I watched Ronaldinho's free kick sail over David Seaman alongside a large number of younger members of my school. I'd just finished my GCSEs and we were due to 'sign out' that day, the school had laid on a big screen and bacon sandwiches for the early morning kick off, my sister and I watched the first half at home then Dad drove us up so we didn't miss the second half.

The next tournament I remember for anything significant was the last one, South Africa 2010. It was during my brief stint working in our area office, I remember they'd put up a tv in the lobby for people to keep up on, though I was never around long enough to use it.
