Black backs......

......of the Lesser kind (I think). 
Mention seagulls to a lot of people and they screw up their faces before giving you a barrage of misconceived opinions. Personally I quite like these birds, they're opportunists when it comes to finding food. Drop a bag of chips and they disappear within seconds, nothing is wasted except the bag they came in. 
With their sleek lines and scythe like wings its a joy to watch them playing as they tack into the wind then turn round to enjoy the ride. Sure they're noisy and quarrelsome, yes they have been known to leave a nasty mess on your car etc, but then so do pigeons and starlings and other other birds. Ive been living in a coastal town now for just over nine years where there are more than enough gulls but rarely have I had to clean their droppings off my car.
Sea birds have to be some of my favourite birds.
