If you've been with me a while you'll know about the garden travails we had when we moved in. After all the drainage went in I have dug these beds over at least six times, but still I'm turning up huge stones. These ones got dug up only in the area it took to plant the six plants in the tray.

In the spring I dug up a bit of metal fencing a foot long, which definitely wasn't there in the winter. I have there oddest feeling the garden might actually be floating on top of a constantly shifting mire...
