Boer in training

A Boer in South Africa means a number of things. Technically speaking it is a farmer but it is also a colloquial name for an Afrikaaner, but specifically a particular type of Afrikaaner. The stereotype would an Afrikaans speaking person, usually from a rural or semi-rural town, they speak almost no English and are very conservative and religious in their views, but the important point to be notes is their dress... A two-tone shirt, short (rugby) shorts and takkies (trainers) or vellies (suede type of lace up boot) and long socks. While we joke about being a boer they built this country from nothing. Yes, they instituted Appartheid but they also did a lot of good.
This little chap came riding up my road today and we had a good laugh. All he is missing is the socks.
