Pinoy BBQ 2015

It was an early rise than usual for me on a Saturday today. The darn rain just wouldnt stop falling since yesterday. I called the outdoor bbq plan quits  today and told Wilson and Te-Anne we are doing Grad Deck. Turned out, it was a way better venue than I expected. Ive been to the grad deck before as a guest and so I didnt know the entire capability of the place in terms of facilities. None of the bbq coal was used but the fully functional  kitchen provided us with everything we needed.

Dwayne, Christian and David were the first to arrive of all the guests. They headed to Curiositiea straight away (probably due to Dwayne's convincing powers). I was already at Te-Anne's and waiting for Janine's bus from Cambridge to campus. As soon as Janine settled in, we decided to join the group at Curiositea. I believe we stayed there for a good 1.5hrs before finally going back to Te-Anne's place to get the "bbq" stuff. We were quite a crowd marching out of Tocil. Te-Anne and I collected the keys (yes lots of keys, i felt like a warden) from the Senate House and had the rest of the group (now with Wilson) go ahead of us to the venue. As we were heading towards the roundabout near Grad Deck, Lisa rang me and said that her bus was already at the edge of the campus heading into the central area. I had to pick her up at the first bus stop which is a good 5 bus stops away from the roundabout since she stopped the bus sooner than she should have.

Everybody in the Grad Deck had already conquered the kitchen when we arrived (headed by David who was a natural in the kitchen). Jose was already there while Krystle and Hazel and Tala came in a few minutes after. I had to quickly take the chicken meat from my bag since I have been carrying it the whole time i was walking to the bus stop to pick  Lisa up and it has to be the first type of meat to go inside the oven.

Everything went perfectly well and in an hour's time, everybody was eating and drinking away all of the food we brought. Dwayne had us connect with our Pinoy Music by playing a lot of Tagalog songs. Kate was impeccable in figuring out the titles and singers of almost every song played during the night.

We wrapped everything up by 1130-ish pm and i can say that it was a truly successful gathering. Probably my last Pinoy BBQ here in the UK before going back to the Philippines (sniff! sniff!).
