Refectory

We wambled slowly down through the country over the afternoon, spending a happy hour or two at Rievaulx Abbey. It's pretty damn picturesque, I'd say. The site was excavated in te twenties. In those days they were fairly uninterested in bones and pottery, so they were dumped after the dig. Amazing!
This is the door of the refectory, seen from the other side of the cloister.
After this, it was down to a wee village just west of York for another fine Broonzies gig. We stayed the night with one of M's old school chums, whom she hadn't seen since those days. Very pleasant chatting and seeing some old photos...
