Whiteford Lighthouse
We went on one of favourite walks today at Cwm Ivy on Gower. The walk takes you through forest, salt marsh, sand dunes and ends up on the beach. A walk along the shore at low tide enables you to reach Whiteford Lighthouse which is Grade11 listed. It was built in 1865 and is now thought to be the only remaining wave-washed cast-iron lighthouse in British Coastal waters and an important work of cast-iron architecture and C19th lighthouse design and construction.
The walk was followed up by a well earned pub lunch at The Britannia Inn, sitting outside in the sun.
