Greedy goldfinch

Another quiet day of resting up, but at least I was able to sit in the garden for a while before coming in to watch some fantastic tennis at Queens on the tv.  The goldfinches in my garden have been getting through lots of niger seeds, they really are quite greedy!  This one was brave enough to visit the feeder when I was sitting only a few feet away, camera at the ready.  

The birds are still singing their hearts out - I heard someone on the radio saying that it is because the parents are teaching the fledglings their song.  I personally like the following Chinese proverb:
'A bird does not sing because it has an answer.  It sings because it has a song.'
