Bordered Sallow

After the last couple of days, I just didn't really feel like getting my camera out today - the grey skies and unseasonable weather didn't help. This is one of only three images take, a Bordered Sallow that we found in the moth trap. This species is generally coastal, occurring on calcareous soils where found inland, and is widespread but local in southern England, extending northwards along the coasts to parts of Scotland. It normally feeds on the flowers and seeds of rest-harrow, so must have wandered some distance, and explains why it's only the second time we've ever recorded it from our garden.
