Cannae Beat a Pakistani Mango

On reflection, I think I'd overdone it during the week. I had done a race on Tuesday, a time trial on Wednesday and no rest day. I was feeling my age. With Rosemary being here we always tend to do loads of stuff and today was no exception.

The plan had been to go to Parkrun but I had overslept.....suspecting the beloved had intentionally allowed this to happen. Rather, we went out for a short few laps of the old railway sidings..... which are almost like a purpose built running track. On lap one, RB stayed behind but on lap two she really pushed me...... at around 4 min.km pace!

After a quick lunch we headed out to Sale Water Park for a swim. Again it became slightly competitive with me managing to swim away from her for the 1st time ever. This was more to do with her wearing trainers and a different type of wetsuit in prep for the Otillo World Swim Run Champs in September rather than me being suddenly becoming an awesome swimmer!

We then headed off for a curry at Lily's Vegetarian Restaurant in Ashton, somewhere I'd wanted to go for a long time. Imagine a Quentin Tarantino Cafe in Mumbai playing Bangra music and you get the idea. The colour scheme was horrendous. Our waiter was a moustached Indian chap who obviously liked his curry too. I couldn't decide what I wanted for my main but the starter was easy. Pea kachori, a Gujarati speciality it was to be for me and I wasn't disappointed. Rosemary's leftovers thingy with samosas, yoghurt and a mix of other stuff was amazing too. The nan bread was probably the best I've ever had.

Getting our pudding was fun as the chap behind the counter couldn't really speak English, resulting in much confusion. R had nutty, sugary buttery things and I had a donut like, sugar covered biscuity thing. Sheesh.... We were stuffed. We just had time to pop next door to their supermarket to purchase a box of Pakistani mangos, sweet juicy bright loveliness!

When we arrived home, I had lost the will to live and collapsed very early on in the evening.
