2015 Saturday -- A Man and His Dogs

This photo was taken while we were walking on the south beach in Cayucos (on the Central Coast of California). We had decided to go to the south-end of town instead of near the pier because the shore is covered with washed-up seaweed on the north beach. We enjoyed an almost “breeze-less” late afternoon on the shore.

Earlier the two of us had put the dogs in their crates; then driven the car the couple of blocks to the Seniors Thirft Store. We were looking for a good used vacuum cleaner. We had purchased a “Hoover” there a little over a year ago for $7.50 and it worked quite well. Recently the thick rubber band that connects the motor to the brushes had broken, so when we took the vacuum to the repairman in San Luis Obispo, he said they no longer make that style of vacuum any longer and he’d have to order the part. He thought it would take several weeks and $40.00. We simply gave him the vacuum and figured we’d find another one. And we will, but we didn’t today.

With no vacuum available at the thrift store, we left the car parked there and the two of us walked several blocks toward the pier just to get the exercise and to be able to walk without all the stopping the dogs usually like to do because they like to sniff everything, EVERYTHING.

In the little downtown area we stopped in the Pieman Shop to get three peanut-butter cookies and to see if their sandwich menu included a "veggie" sandwich. It did not. So we walked next door to the "Top Dog" Coffee Shop and discovered that their menu includes a "hummus veggie sandwich" made on a bagel, so we ordered one cut in half and it was very good.

Then we walked back. Got the car. Drove to the house to get the pups and took them to the beach and that is when these photos were taken. It's been a great day.
