The thrushes have landed!
For the last few weeks the lawns have been full of thrushes, busily hunting worms and then flying of to their nests with the bounty.
Now we’ver eached the next stage and the lawn is now host to even more thrushes, mostly in pairs. There is one large, almost fat, bird that hops after a second thinner bird, squawking, crouching, and gaping its beak. The large bird is the baby, the smaller one the parent.
Of course, with several young the parents are flitting from lawn to nest and back as they attempt to fill all the gaping beaks.
This youngster had landed on our garden steps and seemed in no hurry to move on.
When s/he did eventually flutter to the nearby table the landing was not elegant so even birds need to learn to fly.
I hope my photo model survives, life seems to be fairly risk filled for these clumsy bundles of feathers!
