Chain Gang

As I was passing All Saints Church, Northampton this morning, this celebration of newly elected mayors and their partners were emerging in their finery. I realised that due to council elections recently, many towns in the county had appointed new mayors. They'd just attended the 'Choral Matins for Mayoral & Charity Sunday' apparently. 

The lady showing a neat ankle - is that a frilly garter I see? Surely that's not part of the official wardrobe?

English tradition is alive and well.
