Damselfly on Wheat
If yesterday's crab spider didn't tax you too much, identifying damselflies may be even tougher. Perfectly matched to the colours of the ripening wheat ears, this emerald fellow lady (see comments) with the brown wings clearly thought if she didn't move I wouldn't see her. She was nearly right.
In extras, yesterday evening's Castle Class engine, "The Earl of Mount Edgcumbe", passes through Charfield. The picture's a bit noisy, but given the lateness of the hour and the overcast weather it's worth keeping. The noise, wind and smell was utterly evocative of times long past,as he thundered by, trailing pullman coaches full of day trippers back home.
