Meet the storytellers

Catriona, age 9 and Isobel, age 8 are my two youngest storytellers this week.
And in return I gave them a merk (old Scots money) along with a sweet and strawberry.
 
And Catriona's story had more than a touch of black humour. The gist of it was “…. once upon a time there lived this big, black  dog. He ate the cat and lived happily ever after.”
(As a cat lover I was not overly enthused with this story.)
 
I popped down to St Saviour’s church to see Sue Horne  (extra photo) where she was demonstrating weaving and spinning. Sue grows the plants woad and madder and uses these natural dyes in her spinning and weaving.
 
 She always has an audience because people love seeing an artist create something before their eyes, even better if they get to have a go themselves.
Sue says she wishes more artists would demonstrate their skills in public.
