An explosion of exploding yellow spiders
According to the papers these tight clusters of tiny yellow spiders are young garden spiders. The spiderlings hatch from their eggs and then form dense balls which if disturbed 'explode' as the spiderlings escape in all directions. After a few minutes they all collect back together in a ball once again.
Here they have clustered on our orange poppies. They are very small hence the need for the close-up lens and there are considerably more than shown in this picture.
My apologies to anyone with a nervous disposition about spiders?
