Steam and speed!

Today the local Scottish Wildlife Trust group held its fund-raising day, or Summer Fair as we renamed it, in the grounds of Dunollie House, Oban. The forecast was for a mainly dry but cloudy day, but at lunchtime the sun came out and the afternoon was beautiful - sometimes it's good that the forecast is wrong!

Among the attractions was the Oban Model Club who had brought along various small steam engines - engines rather than locomotives - and a lovely wooden boat complete with a steam engine, all built from scratch by their owners with such amazing skill! This traction engine was also built by one of their members - how on earth would you ever begin to create all the parts required to build such a beauty!
