Run!

He's been telling me all month that he is "the third fastest runner in the whole school". While this might not be quite the accurate portrayal of his physical abilities, I admire his self belief and he certainly hasn't inherited my (lack of) running skills! It is such a joy for me to watch him be so determined and so happy. He came back covered in all kinds of stickers to celebrate his team spirit, his sportsmanship and his 3rd place in a race. I've also noticed a little developmental step in that he can emotionally handle the idea that we can't all be winners in every race, and that we can enjoy taking part non-the-less. It's taken him 6 years to get there - this year was the first year he's wanted any games with winners at his birthday party. I'm pleased for him as it will open up a whole new world of game-playing without the accompanying tantrums! I love to see him enjoying competitive sports and games - Proud Mummy alert!
