Guardian!

I signed up to guard a Piping Plover nest at Hanlan's Pount, the back side of one of the Toronto Islands.

Piping plovers are endangered because they nest on beaches and people love beaches too. But a couple of them decided to nest on this beach in Toronto - the first nest in 85 years! It's a hopeful sign for this species.

I am one of the guardians. I was looking forward to a couple of hours of quiet in the sun. Instead it was cold and then the torrential rains started! But i did have some lively time with the burds, the wind and the wildness on the backside of the city.
