Rain and more rain

Have we ever known such a wet bank holiday? Seems very unfair given the lovely weather we had last week.

Managed to get out and do some more to the pond but ground is very wet (on the plus side - pond filling up nicely) and is getting very muddy. Husband's Heath Robinson solution to the bubbling pot problem worked perfectly so we were able to add the pot to the water feature and experiment with the flow from the pump. It now makes a nice irregular bubbling and has a good sound. It is not connected to the pond so won't disturb the wildlife.

As the rain got heavier and heavier, we gave up outside. I went to the local garden centre with a specialist water gardening area and got soaked looking at the plants. I enjoyed working out which plants to get (as my list was dissolving in the rain) and spent a couple of hours pottering and watching the many newts that inhabit the troughs where the plants are stored. Looking forward to doing some proper planting tomorrow.

Took Son number one back to the station for his journey back to Sheffield. Exam results due towards the end of the month. Son number two still has several to go. Oh for a summer without exam stress for the boys (and for us!).
