Naked Sports

I'm not really obsessed with the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium, it's just that I go to the gym there every couple of days.

I just noticed this artwork for the first time,way up at the top under the grandstands.

I'm curious why some of the athletes are naked, but others are wearing the ancient Athenian equivalent of tighty whiteys.

And why the woman seated on the bench is so huge compared to the others --she's bigger sitting than all those standing around her. Just look at those legs!

No help from a brief Google search trying to find the story behind the sculpture, but I did discover that there were medals given for art competitions at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, which is when the stadium was built.
