Cambodia vs Singapore World Cup pre-qualifier for Russia 2018. At least it's in no way supporting Qatar 2022 and the thousands of deaths they've inflicted on migrant workers. Wait...is Russia doing any better on the human rights front? And wait, given the chaos at FIFA isn't it better to boycott all events bearing their name? Bah, with that level of moralising you'd never leave the house.

The Khmer-American popstar Laura Mam turned up as the friend of a friend of a friend and we shamelessly used her to get access to a VIP parking area (mistake) then a seat on the terraces. Although without the right tickets, celebrity won out over safety. The crowd was very partisan, going wild at even the attempts of random audience members to shoot for the goal at half time.

The scenes at Olympic Stadium, which had involved zero preparation by the authorities for a rare event involving many tens of thousands of people, are how deadly crushes begin and the atmosphere and activity were overwhelming. Thankfully I think it all ended safely.
