Lansdown Hall from Bank Gardens, Stroud
I have to attend a lot of meetings this week some of which I have to officiate at. The formal meetings required preparatory meetings to check the arrangements and agendas were all ready as well as working out strategies for different scenarios. Tonight I had to chair the town council's finance committee which took nearly three hours finishing just before 10pm.
In the afternoon I went to check on the building works to the new extension we have commissioned at Lansdown Hall. It will act as a backstage area ofr artists and management as well as providing much needed storage arrangements. I have been taking photyos of all the stages of the building as an archive for both the council as well as to show to to the three key grant funding bodies who have made the works possible. We raised £105,000 which we will spend this year, on this and another key repair project to the fabric of the building.
Although the pictures of the building works are important, I thought I would blip a wide shot of the whole building from the other side of Bank Gardens. This south-eastern end of the building will be the subject of the last phase of the redevelopment of the Hall and its Gallery. A completely new entrance will be created at the corner nearest to this viewpoint to replace the worst parts of the stonework of the building. But we will have to fund raise for the third time during the next year and then maybe the work will start in 2017 which hopefully will complete the transformation of this listed building into Stroud town's community hall.
