Allium in the Mist

It was going to be a big day at the Arboretum, as an evening event was planned featuring music in the gardens.

I was there when the day began, and the misters were on high everywhere, making sure that all of the plants would be well hydrated and lovely for the evening's garden party.

I was standing at the back of the pollinator gardens looking into the light, when I noticed that the morning light had lit up all of the allium like Chinese lanterns.

The misters were spraying everywhere, and droplets were flung both high and low. I liked the shapes and the patterns of the spray against the flowers and the light.

In honor of the mist, the song to accompany this image is by the 80s rock band Mr. Mister. This is my favorite song of theirs and I can't believe I've never featured it here yet: Mr. Mister, with Kyrie. "Kýrie, eléison" means "Lord, have mercy" in Greek, and according to those who wrote it, the song is essentially a prayer.

Kýrie, eléison, down the road that I must travel
Kýrie, eléison, through the darkness of the night
Kýrie, eléison, where I'm going, will you follow?
Kýrie, eléison, on a highway in the light . . .

Of note: allium blooms start out bright purple and fade to green and then golden brown. Additional allium photos (in color) may be found here and here.
