A Roman Ring

A Venetian lady came to my home today, wearing this ring. She has had the stone newly set : it is a seal ring from ancient Rome bearing the incision of what appears to be a shepherd with one sheep(although I am wondering if it is a cat!). The significance is as yet unclear, but it is alreadyfurnishing me with ideas for a story, perhaps a ghost tale... :)
