Wide Angle Wednesday - Modern (Beer)

Beer is the third most popular drink overall, after water and tea. It dates back to Early Neolithic or 9500 BC, and it is agreed that it contributed to the building of civilizations. The Code of Hammurabi included the regulation of beer, and "The Hymn to Ninkasi" was a prayer to the Mesopatamian goddess of beer. (It contained the recipe, so no one would forget how to make it)

In "Modern Times", Oregon is #1 in breweries per capita.
Tonight's modern brew blip is Flat Tail Brewing's, "Tailgater Kolsch", from Corvallis, Oregon.
The modern recipe results in a bright straw-hued crisp lager-like ale with German Tettnanger hops that adds a spicy bouquet & firm bitterness, and has 5.5% alcohol.

I usually have something in the beer stash area from another modern Oregon brewer, Ninkasi. Yes, named after the goddess. And one of the finest microbreweries in Oregon. But the quality is so good, that Ninkasi options in the beer stash do not last long.

But I did find the Terminal Gravity, Tap Out, a 9.8 %, strong ale. And since it is my birthday, I need dessert with this great meal.
And for trivia buffs, Layne reminded me that even though her father did not supply us with thirty days of honeymoon ale when we were married, our times together have endured many moons.
