AAgh!
What on earth possessed me to attempt to make my own mayonnaise?! I used to make it many years ago, then I used a liquidiser. I don't have such a thing any more. I do have a food processor. 'Great' I thought, that'll do. No! Too big - the egg yolks were lost in it. So onto my new electric whisk. Is it possible to over whisk egg and oil? Anyway it curdled. I've never had this happen. So Delia says whisk another egg yolk - curdled. Okay I can do this - I'll try a hand whisk - curdled - curdled - curdled - used the smallest whisk in the house. In the end I thought 'bugger it', I'll just add the mustard powder and wine vinegar. It worked! We had homemade coleslaw with homemade mayonnaise for tea. Not that I was very hungry by that point.
My sister in law makes a great coleslaw - she uses salad cream. So that's what I'll do next time. I find that the bought mayonnaise it tasteless.
