It's just a phase

Red tiles

I spent all yesterday evening sprucing up the house we've lived in for 7 years. Mr mc did his share too, in case he reads this and takes the hump!

I have to say that it's looking pretty darn good. Over the years I've often expressed quite negative thoughts towards the house for a number of reasons, not least its layout, but last night made me look at it differently. I got up close to things, like the shower room tiles, that I normally don't pay that much attention to.

These tiles had to be sourced from Italy and cost a fortune, even with mr mc's top bartering skills. I'd seen a hotel bathroom in Vienna several years ago which was all red and had wanted to replicate it but we had to search every tile shop in Lancashire to find the right shade. Many had a more orangey tint but it had to be pillar box red or not at all. We eventually found these in blackburn. And I have a couple of extra boxes of them in the garage to adorn my next bathroom!

The valuations today were a little disappointing but we should still be ok for one of the places we'd like to move to. Unfortunately it won't be the village where no1 son is at school but I'd already come to terms with that. :( It is still a shame that this house which we made our family home is not going to be worth what I'd like it to be. And that as we have done as much to it as we can there is no chance of increasing the value.
