High Lines and Grand Views

For what was supposed to be the only day this week with rain, there was a great deal of sunshine and little more than a drop of rain. We found ourselves a traditional NY breakfast away from the hotel and then decided to let our feet have a rest as we took an open topped bus tour. We got to see lots of famous landmarks before we hopped off for a light lunch sat in City Hall Park with its beautifully fountains.

We took the subway up to 14th St from which we walked to The High Line. For anyone that doesn't know this is the former elevated freight railway line now turned into a fabulous walk. The track is partly retained but trees, shrubs and flowers have been allowed to grow. It's well worth a visit.

We finished up on 34th St and consequently we had the obligatory visit to B&H Photo. What a shop, if only UK camera stores had this much stock and the space to show it.

By this stage the sun had taken its toll and we walked back to the hotel for a rest. Leaving Annie for a nap, I dived across a few blocks to Grand Central station where I took today's blip. Will tidy this up when I get home (all photo edits this week are iPad only!!) but I enjoyed the distortion the Sigma 12-24mm gave at its widest.

As I walked back and got close to the Hard Rock Cafe I could see something was on. As their were crowds and lots of photographers. Some sort of event related to guitar making legend Les Paul was underway. I managed to get right to the edge of the red carpet and squeezed a few shots in. In the extras you'll see Guitar legend Joe Satriani.

A proper burger in a real NYC sports bar tonight, yummy.
