Kew Palace
I had a busy morning doing chores and then I went with a friend to visit Kew Palace in Kew gardens. It was on an organised tour, and it was very interesting learning about (mad) King George III and his Queen Charlotte who lived there. There were actually three palaces built at Kew, and the one in existence today is the second of these palaces that were built. It was built in 1631 and Kind George bought it in 1781. It is the house in which Queen Charlotte died and it was also used as the venue to celebrate our current Queen Elizabeth's 80th birthday in 2006 - this was after a 10 year restoration project had been carried out on the house.
Gavin left for San Francisco yesterday, and when he phoned me this morning he told me he was not coming home on Thursday as planned as he had to unexpectedly go from there to Australia as there was some urgent matter to attend to there. However this afternoon he phoned to say that the plans had changed yet again, and he is coming home on Thursday evening as planned, but has to go to Australia on Saturday and will be there all next week. The week after that he is scheduled to be back in the US again - maybe I will see some time this month?
