The French are on the sea...

...says the newspaper this morning, so I headed down along the Potomac to see this replica of the Marquis de Lafayette's L'Hermione, the original of which sailed to the not-yet-US in 1780 with the news of reinforcements to come. 

Far away, hazy, sailors too lazy to put up the sails...but it was a lovely way to spend a morning.
