Well what a cracking walk that was. Ben Tianavaig (cheen-avaig) sits just a couple of miles south of Portree, and just a smidge under half-a-Munro in height, but it all felt like getting away from everything. Probably helped by us following a loop walk route, rather than the out-and-back that appears to be the norm.

Instead of heading straight onto the heather bordered path, with not really much in the way of pretty views until you hit the summit, and no significant points of interest to make you think 'this is fab', we skirted round the base of the hill, right beside the shore of the Inner Sound, being tracked by seals, spotting a few dolphins, and not seeing any otters. the oath itself was narrow and undulating, terminating in a couple of miles at a lovely grassy pasture that has been tucked away for future wild camping reference.

The climb from here was steeper than the standard path, but in between intriguing rock formations and falls, with views opening out all of the way. The brew stop (chosen as it was really sheltered here and we figured, correctly, that the top would be windy) was accompanied by the first midges of the trip, but even they couldn't dampen spirits.

p.s. boyinthecorner will be pleased to hear we popped into the Isle of Skye bakery today, and much impressed by both the bakery and the gallery (the gf bread is astonishingly good, and there's something in the gallery we'll probably return for).

p.p.s. Another pair of white-tailed Eagles this morning, again high and moving off, but managed one shot showing the difference in size between them and a buzzard...

p.p.p.s. Wanted to add an extra pic, but the feature is a little hit or miss on safari on iPad. Ah well.
