This is a brief update of events over the last few days.
Beginning with the light hearted stuff:
In church, Lorenzo’s class who will be going to middle school in September, sang a special song for their teacher. She cried, most of the kids did and so did a number of adults, including me.
When the school choir had finished singing the most terribly boring songs in honor of the dignitaries sitting in reserved seats in the front row and when the Mayor, Police, Carabinieri, Custom and Excise, Army people left the building, Alessandro retrieved from a chair in front of us, a sticky note which said “Reserved for the Mayor”. Alessandro, being the prototype of Dennis the Menace, saw his opportunity to strike when a very plump, elderly lady passed in front of him. He stuck the notice on her big bottom. Oh we did have a giggle over that. Alessandro has to change school too as he needs a more cheerful teacher. The one he has had so far is so very depressing and unsuitable for cheeky little boys.
Lorenzo is all over the country playing in football tournaments and got to ride in the “Roma” coach, the one that his hero Totti rides in.
Riccardo had his third birthday but it didn’t seem of interest to anyone, least of all Riccardo himself who doesn’t like presents anyway.
Valeria missed her swimming competition on account of ear ache while little brother Max did his version of doggy paddle without arm floats and got a medal for his trouble.
Last Monday, at work, we were subjected to our sixth quality inspection in under 12 months. This time it was by an EEC agency. Fortunately, all went well and all nine of them went home early as they couldn’t find anything to criticize! We are still recovering from the buildup of tension. With all this under our belt, we are in an “iron barrel” as they say here and ready to go go go!
