Wee patient...
Well got earl home from the vets last night after his anesthetic had worn off and he got the last of his IV fluids. He's a bit of a patchwork quilt mind you, paws and throat shaved for IV's. Vet was pleased how his front fang came out, it had a considerable about of decay at the base of the tooth, the root apparently is significantly longer than the actual tooth. So she said the abscess was deep and messy but it's all cleaned out ok and he's on antibiotics for the infection, he also got all his teeth descaled so they are gleaming and unfortunately in addition he had to have 2 premolars out that were fractured. Was glad to get him home last night and he was even keen to eat some moist prescription food in pouches. Need to fatten him up again, he was extremely underweight for his size and think now teeth are sorted he will eat more. Thankfully his bloodwork showed good kidney and liver function so unless he continues to lose weight our vet is happy that it isn't a thyroid problem.
We have decided to bring him to work with us every day now. We are self employed and our office is just a few blocks away from home so it's easier to have him here as he thrives on company rather than running home constantly to check he's ok. I'm so relieved he's ok I couldn't bare it if we had of lost him too. He's having a lovely sleep at the window basking in the sun, stretched out on a sheep skin rug. it's definately a cats life....
