Death Row Diner (again)

It is the birthday of the Minx's mum (or thereabouts) and she has previously expressed an interest in visiting the Death Row Dive and Diner, which belongs to my old friend, Bob. Thus the Minx, miniMinx and I pick her up from her house and head off to Liverpool, whipping down the M58 and entering Liverpool via the A59.

In some ways Liverpool has changed a lot in the thirty years since Bob and I were students here and I never fail to be fascinated by the mixture of the old and modern, the done up and the run down, the affluence and the, yes, poverty.

We park up on Hope Street and descend down into the diner, which, I think, matches the motherMinx's expectations, and we all settle down to drinks and the excellent menu. Even at three o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, the place has quite a few people in it, all ably cared for by the friendly staff, who are stylish to such a degree that there's a slight feel of the Star Wars cantina.

On the wall, Bob has a copy of Robert Montgomery's 'Echoes of Voices in the High Towers', which I love. I posted a photo of it here.

You'll be pleased to hear that the food was, as ever, excellent and a good time was had by all, especially me when the Minx surprised me by ordering banana fritters for dessert, which I love :-)
