Not Just Any Old Heron

It's a British heron -- they're very sophisticated and have a wonderfully dry sense of humor.

I was testing the limits of my camera with this one and the picture has some shortcomings., but I thought I'd post it anyway, since my wanderings were a bit limited due to the sore knee.

My original blip was going to be of a hedgerow.  I've discovered one on my walk into town which shows the intricate way they are "layed" and this one is particularly interesting because I can see a lot of detail and was planning to bore impress you with a lot of information about them.  I can't help it, I love them and consider them an art form, sadly an almost lost art form.  Watch this space, though -- I still may do it.

I didn't go many places today -- only walked into town to get some provisions.   I wonder if walking all the way into town and back (uphill) will count in the fight to lose weight if I come back with chocolate & caramel covered shortbread?  Yes, I ate it, and a cheese & onion pie as well.

P.S.  Midgehole Dave and Bezzie Pet, I'll give you three guesses where I was when I took this picture and the first two don't count.
P.P.S.  I was a really, really long way from him.
